Alec Humphrey, who has been the prime mover behind the regular Derbyshire Young Ringers (DYR) practices, is standing down as one of the leaders as of 1st September 2018.
DYR started several years ago, initially as an informal group meeting in the Chesterfield District. Ever since the first RWNYC (in 2011, with a team from North Derbyshire, Belper and Derby) Alec has been proactive in getting a team together for the contest, and started the current cycle of practices on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Recently Alec has organised extra practices or quarter peals on the 4th Sunday.
With support from the Education Committee, DYR is currently ‘managed’ by a team of four which includes Andrew and Sue Hall, and Gill Hughes as well as Alec. We are therefore looking for suitable volunteers to join the team and assist in the running of DYR. Ideally you will have:
- Experience of managing a lively practice
- Family (or tower) members who ring with DYR
- Diocese of Derby (or other suitable – e.g. ART) DBS clearance
If you are interested, or would like more information, please email the chair of the Education Committee (Andrew Hall).
With best wishes to Alec, and many thanks for his involvement with DYR.
