Matters Arising a. Insurance –A letter had been received from a member regarding the
cost of the main insurance at circa £1.24 per member and whether the
handbells ought to be insured as they were rarely used and most
serious hand bell ringers had their own set. It was pointed out that the
Association handbells were from the old Midland Counties Association
and had been given to them from Sir Arthur P Heywood. They were
currently insured with the trophies etc at about £1.53 to insure them and
they were valued at about £8,000. The handbells could be replaced but
not with the history attached to them.
It was stated that personal accident was not expensive and not all our
meetings were in churches with third party insurance being against the
Association not the members (ie the Trustees).
It was noted that each Church should have its own insurance but how
can we be sure of the church’s insurance and check that it covers the
Association. Some of our members had recently visited Cornwall and
had been advised at one church that their insurance does not insure
visiting ringers.
It was suggested that we had a table of the breakdown of the element
of insurance and possible source of the cover.
It was pointed out that accident insurance is additional to our own
church; and does the church insurance only cover its own ringers ie do
we know it covers visiting ringers. We could ask the membership if they
wished to have personal accident cover at the AGM.
To date only one member has queried the need for insurance.
Safeguarding Correspondence from one member has been responded to.
The March 2025 version of Diocese’s Safeguarding Guide Lines was on
the website and all Association ringers needed to follow this.
The CCCBR were holding a Safeguarding forum our Safeguarding
Officer had signed up to be part of this forum for discussion and
exchange of ideas etc.
Association website The Association’s bank details were available via the website for paying
subscriptions.

be housed in an outbuilding in Hope.

celebrations
It was thought that a Book of Celebration should be created. Planning
on going ahead but important to think about legacy and publicity would
be required.

future events could be improved. The next event may be at Bakewell.
